Question
Communication of OHS/WHS and “Return to work” issues: Does your office have these prominently on display on a staff notice board?
Importance
- Significant emphasis / media advertising is being focused on return to work following an accident, by the relevant state authorities.
- This is to the advantage of the worker (Physical & mental rehabilitation) and the appropriate authority (Reduction of long term Work Cover claims), both win.
- The authorities expect an office to proactively display the return to work process to be readily accessible by all employees.
Solutions:
The authorities want to see evidence of a communication process between management and workers relating to all OHS/WHS issues.
The best way to do this is to place a notice board in the staff room or an appropriate location easily seen by all staff , headed OHS (Victoria, Western Australia) or WHS notice board (all other states/territories).
The first notice you will place on the notice board is the ‘Return to Work’ poster available from your Work Cover provider.
Following should be the minutes of the most recent OHS/WHS meeting you have held. You might also consider a suggestion box/envelope for any issues your staff might wish to raise.
